Located in North Yorkshire and coming with a population now exceeding 50,000 people, the city of Scarborough is currently the third-biggest town in the county. Not only is this a town of size and stature, but it is also a leading beach resort and historic holiday destination, being the largest of its kind along the whole of the Yorkshire coastline.

The safe coastline and sandy beaches of Scarborough understandably provide the principal tourist draw, being favoured by families since Victorian times. There are a number of luxury hotels based here, such as the five-star Helaina Hotel on Blenheim Street, which boasts guest rooms with sea views and was last refurbished towards the end of 2012. Just down the road is the six-room Marine View Guest Hotel, a past winner of the Yorkshire Moors and Coast Tourism Awards.

At the end of Blenheim Street are the ancient remains of Scarborough Castle, a local fortified landmark that was originally built to defend this headland, while around the corner is another beach, which fronts Foreshore Road and lies alongside attractions such as the Futurist Theatre, the Olympia Leisure amusements and the Lord Nelson Public House. Close by, both the Royal Hotel on Saint Nicholas Street and the Grand Hotel on Saint Nicholas Cliff are very much of note in this popular seaside town, being in demand during the summer months.
